"2023, Na We Still Get President" - Buhari's Aide, Bashir Ahmad, In Shocking Comment Reveals Callous Way FG Disregards #EndSARS
The agitation for progress is one that is inbred in every human, this is what spurs the need to make money, to be better than before and the drive in other aspects of human life that constitutes "growth".
Nigerian youths for the better part of two weeks have been protesting against police brutality with the trend #EndSARS. This hashtag has over the past three years surged up frequently whenever members of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) harass, torture and even kill young Nigerians in cold blood.
This current agitation for SARS end is an unprecedented one in a country where the president, Muhammadu Buhari, once referred to the young generation as "Lazy Nigerian Youths".
In a move which has come as a shock to the government, the youths have taken to the streets, facing excess brutish force from the police force trying to quell the peaceful protest and even thugs who were paid to attack protesters.
Many have wondered about the indifference of the government on this issue especially as during the course of this protest, the police has killed about 15 people with no repercussion.
A post by the presidential aide on social media, Bashir Ahmad, shares insight to the machinations of the minds of those who were elected to govern us.
Bashir in a post on his official Twitter page has tried to politicize the agitation of the youths by saying the protests are being sponsored by failed political contenders in the 2019 general election.
Even more shocking is the kind of response that was posted under his comments. Many rather clueless individuals bought in to his ideology with one even commenting the phrase in the headline. This show of insensitivity on the part of the government and its stooges led to serious debate on his post.
Well meaning Nigerian youths who are tired of recycling the same old cargo with backward thinking in politics made it known that the disbandment, prosecution and incarseration of tyranical police officers is the first course on this justice train.
The destination is a new Nigeria where the second verse of the national anthem becomes a reality.
"Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause, guide our leaders right, help our youths the truth to know. In love and honesty to grow and living just and true. Great lofty heights attain to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign."
