Former minister dies at 82

 A FORMER Federal Commissioner for Works, Rear Admiral Olufemi Olumide, is dead.

He died after an illness in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital and his home town.

He was 82.

An engineer, the late Olumide was a pioneer of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

He served in many capacities in the Nigerian Navy before retiring in the 1980s.

The late Olumide was the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Naval Dockyard in Lagos and Chief of Material at the Naval Headquarters, also in Lagos.

A statement by his family said the former minister will be laid to rest next week in Abeokuta.
