Beyoncé Hails "Rule Breaking" Meghan Markle In Public Message After Explosive Oprah Interview
Beyoncé has posted a public message of support for Meghan Markle - two days after the Duchess's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Grammy winner - who is believed to have met Meghan on just one occasion - shared the message on her personal website Tuesday.
'Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership. We are all strengthened and inspired by you,' Beyoncé wrote beneath an image that showed her meeting the Royal at the London premiere of the Lion King in July 2019.
On Tuesday, Beyoncé also shared a separate post to her website praising 12 women she deemed to be 'rule breakers'.
Meghan was one of the dozen women who featured in the post, alongside Jane Fonda and Democrat politicians Stacey Abrams, Maxine Waters and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The singer wrote: 'For those who created their own way to tell their stories, found other avenues to get to the destinations, and broke every rule in the process, We See You! We salute each and every one of you on this International Women's Day.'
The June 2019 premiere of the Lion King was reportedly the first time that Meghan and Beyoncé had met.
Prince Harry, Jay-Z and Disney boss Bob Iger were also present during the red carpet meeting.
As Meghan and Beyoncé were meeting, Harry was famously caught on camera telling Iger that Meghan was 'interested' in doing voiceover work.
It's unclear whether Meghan has met with Beyoncé since leaving the United Kingdom at the beginning of last year.
According to Grazia, Meghan's introduction to Beyoncé 'marked the culmination of a long process to orchestrate a meeting.'
'Meghan had been a fan of the singer for years – she used to post tributes on her now-deleted Instagram account – and has long thought of her as a dream dinner guest,' the magazine reported at the time.
The publication claimed that the pair's mutual friend, Serena Williams, helped Meghan 'make contact'.
