Nigerians React As NIMC Deadline Kicks In

Nigerians have taken to twitter reacting as the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC) ultimatum, to block unlinked Subscriber Identification Modules with National Identity Number(NIN) kicks in. 

 The dateline ends today, January 19, 2021. 

 It was earlier reported that Telecommunications companies have submitted 43 million NIN for verification in order to have them registered with their respective SIMs, which is far lower than the esteemed number of Nigerians without NIN. 

 The federal government had added another three-weeks extension from December 30, 2020, to January 19, 2021, for linking up; while those without NIN now have till February 9, 2021, unlike the initial December 30, 2020 deadline.
