Nigerians Storm Social Media As Guardian Newspaper Honours #EndSARS Protesters

The iconic #EndSARS hashtag is back to trending at number one in Nigeria today. This new burst of fire in the trend was caused after the Guardian Newspaper revealed its Person of The Year 2020 as the #EndSARS protesters.

The Guardian honorary article is titled "Person Of The Year: Our Messengers Of Hope"

The protest came to a fatal climax on the 20th of October 2020 when Nigerian soldiers opened fire on peaceful protesters holding a sit-in at the Lekki Toll Gate.

The protest, championed by the Nigerian youths against police brutality and bad governance gained international recognition with many global entities calling for reform by the President Buhari led administration.
