Everton vs Manchester United highlights and reaction as Fernandes and Cavani score in 3-1 win, Solksjaer launches furious rant

Manchester United returned to winning ways as they recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Everton.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer came in for plenty of criticism this week after defeats to Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir, but he got the response he was looking for at Goodison Park to help ease the pressure on his shoulders.

Things got off to an inauspicious start, however, when the Toffees took the lead in the first 20 minutes. A simple long ball from the goalkeeper wasn't defended properly and Brazilian Bernard found the corner of David de Gea's goal.

Everton weren't ahead for long though, as Bruno Fernandes dragged his side level with a glancing header from Luke Shaw's cross just six minutes later.

The turnaround was complete when Fernandes got his second shortly after the half-hour mark as his cross for Marcus Rashford found the back of the net via the far post.

United held firm in a cagey second-half until Fernandes broke forward deep into added time and teed up Edinson Cavani to score his first goal for the club.

Mason Greenwood was too unwell to figure for Manchester United in their Premier League win over Everton.

The MEN reported Greenwood was not included in the provisional squad on Friday night and the 19-year-old did not travel to Goodison Park.

Luke Shaw was forced off in the second-half of United's 3-1 triumph with a hamstring injury and Marcus Rashford was also hurt late on. Victor Lindelof started but has been troubled by a back problem of late and didn't play against Istanbul Basaksehir.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer branded the fixture scheduling in the Premier League "an absolute shambles" following Manchester United's win against Everton.

United were beaten by Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey on Wednesday night and travelled back to Manchester in the early hours of Thursday morning ahead of the lunchtime kick-off at Goodison Park just two days later.

Solskjaer alluded to fitness issues before the game but United responded to back-to-back defeats with a superb showing on Merseyside, securing a much-needed victory thanks to a brace from Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani's first United goal.

The win relieved some of the pressure on the shoulders of Solskjaer, who was fuming during his post-match interview, taking aim at the Premier League fixture schedule which he believes contributed to Luke Shaw leaving the field with an injury.
