Son To Aide Of Sokoto Governor Rapes A Girl On Camera, Then Circulates The Video On Social Media
The Commandant of Sokoto State Hisbah Commission, Dr Adamu Kasarawa, has confirmed arresting a student, Baffa Tafida, for sexual abuse of a female colleague and circulating the videos through social media.
Kasarawa said Tafida, who is the son of Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Social Investment, Alhaji Hayatu Tafida, was arrested along with two other colleagues.
He explained that other suspects were Umar Abubakar and Mas’ud Gidado-Bodinga; all residents of Sokoto.
The commandant said investigation was completed in the case and Hisbah would soon hand over the matter to relevant authorities for prosecution.
Mother of the victim, Safiyya Umar, confirmed that Tafida sexually abused her daughter (name withheld) sometimes in 2017 when she was 16 years old.
Umar, who resides in Bado Quarters in Sokoto metropolis, said the suspect stored the video clips for three years with bad intention to destroy her daughter’s life.
“Exactly on June 20, 2020, I received a call from Lagos on the viral circulated video of my daughter, nude and being sexually abused by Tafida.
“The suspects shared the clips to her daughter’s suitor along with other online groups. My daughter had a suitor and all marriage arrangements were concluded. Suddenly, Tafida released the phonographic video of him sexually abusing her.
“The situation attracted chaos in the family and my daughter’s suitor withdrew from the proposed marriage,” the victim’s mother added.
When contacted, Alhaji Hayatu Tafida, a special adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwbal, confirmed knowledge of the case involving his son and said it was before Hisbah Commission and waiting for further action.
