Police seize 324,000 used condoms as they bust factory repackaging them for resale

Police has seized 324,000 used condoms which were being recycled for resale to the general public in Vietnam.


The confiscation was made during a raid by the authorities at warehouse were the unlabeled rubber contraceptives were kept.

The warehouse situated at Hoa Nhut Quarter, Tan Vinh Hiep Ward, Binh Duong Province, located in southern Vietnam was disclosed over the weekend.

Investigator said factory workers were tasked with washing, drying, and reshaping the condoms with wooden dildos.

The owner of the warehouse identified as Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc, was arrested during the raid. The 33 year-old woman, admitted that an unidentified person delivers the used condoms to the warehouse once a month.

According to local news site VN Explore, she cleaned, dried, and sorted the condoms before reselling them to the public as new.

Local reports online said the condoms were being supplied to hotels and market stalls close to the warehouse. It was also discovered that thousands of repackaged condoms had already been sold to the unsuspecting public.

A government official said: ‘Condoms are classified as medical items, so we will take a look at the several laws that the owner has broken.’
