Nigerians Believe We Governors Are Corrupt, Thieves - El Rufai
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said most people see Governors as thieves, corrupt and ineffective.
The Governor said this in response to questions on why he believes being a governor is the worst job in Nigeria.
He made the claims when he appeared on Channel Television’s Sunrise Daily programme.
El-Rufai said that despite the recession people still expect progress to happen “overnight”.
“Governors are the most suspected elected officials,” El-Rufai said.
“Everyone thinks Governors are just thieves and we are wasting state resources, we are not doing anything. Governors are assumed to be taking security votes.
“When people hear security votes, they think it is a slush fund for Governors. So we have a very negative image out there.
“Meanwhile, we have one of the most difficult jobs in the world.
